* Exported from MasterCook * Lentils With Garlic & Onion Recipe By : Madhur Jaffrey's "Indian Cooking" Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Dal Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 Tbsp Vegetable Oil 1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds 4 Cloves Garlic -- Chopped 1 Med Onion -- Chopped 1 C Lentils -- Washed And Drained 3 C Water 1 Tbsp Salt 1/4 Tsp Cayenne Heat oil over medium heat. When hot, add cumin seeds & let sizzle for a few seconds. Add the garlic & stir-fry till the garlic changes colour. Put in the onion & stir-fry until they begin to brown at the edges. Add the lentils & water. Bring to a boil, cover & simmer for about an hour, or until the lentils are tender. Add salt & cayenne.
