* Exported from MasterCook * Cabbage Rolls Recipe By : bobbi744@sojourn.com Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cabbage Casseroles Ground Beef Main Dishes Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 head Cabbage 1 1/2 lb Ground beef 1/2 c Uncooked rice 1 Egg -- up to 2 Chili sauce Onion -- grated Salt and pepper -- to taste 1 c Tomato soup 1 soup can Water Alternate Filling: -- Precooked 1/2 c Tomatoes -- cooked 1/4 c Onion -- chopped 1 Bay leaf 4 Whole cloves Catsup 1 lb Ground beef -- cooked/drained 1 c Rice -- cooked 2 tb Onion -- chopped, cooked 1 Egg 1 ts Salt 1/4 ts Pepper Place cabbage head in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove leaves and cut out large membrane. Reserve. Combine ground beef, rice, eggs, chili sauce, grated onion, salt and pepper. Stuff cabbage leaves. Secure with toothpcks. Place in buttered casserole dish. Top with soup/water mixture. Bake at 350 F for 2 hours, covered, then 1/2 hour uncovered. Alternate Filling: Cook all filling ingredients. Fill wilted leaves. Place in casserole dish. Mix 1/2 c cooked tomatoes mixed with 1/4 c chopped onion, bay leaf, cloves and catsup to make sauce. Pour over cabbage rolls. Bake 45 minutes covered, or Microwave for 15 minutes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Notes: First filling is uncooked until baking time. Second filling is precooked and rolls can be done in Microwave or for only 45 minutes in the oven.
