Green beans, wax beans, carrots and summer squash are very good; sliced tomatoes are marvelous; even turnips are good. Drain the vegetable. Make a batter out of egg, milk, oil, flour and salt. (For a thinner batter, use 1 cup milk.) Dip vegetables in batter and fry in hot fat until lightly browned, about 3 minutes. Drain and serve. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
