* Exported from MasterCook * Crab and Mushroom Casserole Recipe By : Freeze With Ease copyright 1965 Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Casseroles Fish & Seafood Freezer Meals Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pound mushrooms -- sliced 8 tablespoons butter -- divided 1/3 cup flour 10 ounces chicken broth 1 1/2 cups medium or light cream salt and pepper -- to taste 1 1/2 pounds fresh crabmeat OR 2 cans canned crabmeat buttered bread crumbs American cheese -- grated Saute mushrooms in 2 T. butter for 5 minutes and set aside. Melt 6 T butter. Re move from heat and blend in flour. Add chicken broth, cream, salt and pepper. R eturn to heat and cook until thickened and smooth. In 6-cup casserole arrange in alternate layers the mushrooms, sauce and crabmea t. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and cheese. Freeze. To serve: put frozen casserole in 325 oven. Bake until brown and bubbly, 45 to 60 minutes. Defrosted casserole bakes at 350 for 30 minutes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
