* Exported from MasterCook II * Split Pea Soup Recipe By : Lynn Thomas Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Soups And Stews Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pound split peas 1 medium onion -- chopped 4 carrots -- cut in large chunks 4 stalks celery -- sliced 4 medium red potatoes -- cubed 1 pound cubed ham and/or 1 ham bone pinch thyme, basil, and dill 2 tablespoons parsley Combine all ingredients in a 8 quart stockpot. Fill with water. Cover and cook on high 20 minutes or until boiling. Stirring occassionally, cook on low 60 to 70 minutes or until peas are soft. If desired, remove about 2 cups of the soup and blend until smooth in a blender. Return to pot and mix in for a thicker soup. Recipe by Lynn Thomas dcqp82a.
