* Exported from MasterCook * Swedish Cabbage Rolls Recipe By : Unknown Cookbook Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : All Newly Typed Not Shared Beef Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cabbage -- about 3 pounds salt 1 cup cooked rice 1 pound ground beef 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1 small onion -- grated 2/3 cup milk 1/4 cup butter 1 Tablespoon flour 1 cup light cream pepper Boil the cabbage, reserving the liquid and setting aside 12 outer leaves. Lightly mix 1 teaspoon salt and the rice, beef, nutmeg, onion and milk. Divide this filling among the leaves. Make packages, folding in the sides, and sauté them in the butter until well browned on both sides, beginning with seam side down. Pour 1 cup cabbage liquid over the top, cover and simmer for about 1 hour. Add more liquid if necessary. Remove the rolls to a hot serving dish. Blend together the flour and cream and stir this into the pan juices. Bring to a boil, stirring, and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and pour over the cabbage rolls.
