rimgo for imgur

2024-06-20

there are a lot of "privacy frontends" for more mainstream services. they're pretty easy to make and actually pretty fun to build. invidious is rather well-known, but a lot of the others, while great as fun little projects, aren't really worth the hassle or lack of usability. there are, afaik, two major exceptions, though: breezewiki, which is rather well known, and rimgo.

rimgo is a frontend for imgur. it simply displays the image, and sometimes some stats about it. i actually thought it was imgurs default behavior, or that i had linked directly to the file for a while. turns out it was just rimgo. i'll stop using imgur for images myself now, please email me with a good alternative :)!

rimgo's codeberg repository seems to be down, but there are still instances running it. here's one i use

EDIT: i'm dumb! the repository wasn't down, but codeberg seems to be!
