Celebrity is a funny thing. The singer we went to see is on the edge of leaping from local famous to actual famous. She's been on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert, for example. But, friends and coworkers who aren't into music in general, or into the local music scene specifically, have never heard of her.

But I guess that's true for any kind of niche isn't it? I can recall numerous times where I've had to explain somebody's authority on a subject to somebody unfamiliar with the domain, "Oh, they're Esperanto famous." or "They're gopher famous" or "tilde famous", whatever that is. "Developer famous."

So truly, everybody will be famous for 15 minutes or longer in some context. Everybody is a hero to somebody.
