moved into the new house this weekend. major upgrade to WFH life: transitioning from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house = dedicated office space for everybody. Bonus: I set up my office in the little sunroom area next to the backyard so there's technically a 3rd bedroom that's not even being used right now. I think it's going to immediately be repurposed as a closet though because there's literally so little closet space. I love my little sunroom office though. There are three windows I can open up, a skylight, and the screen door leading out into the backyard / garden. I can stand up and walk outside on a call and enjoy the outdoors. Couldn't be happier with the arrangement honestly. It's life changing to be away from the crowded high rise in the middle of crowded downtown, and to not have to fight my way through hallways and elevators and lobbies full of people not wearing masks, and not respecting any kind of social distancing. I think the last couple weeks there took days off my life due to stress. Now I can just walk straight out my door and be outside. And we're two blocks from a huge open park with tons of space to walk around and recreate. Seriously a great move. --- I've been avidly watching vantablack fleeing socal for seattle on @vantablack@cybre.space after she finally got fed up with her parents. Best I can tell, some rando from the fediverse offered to fly her there in some kind of personal plane situation. I was really scared that they were going to get straight up kidnapped or something. I know we no longer live in the world of "never let people on the internet know your personal information" and "never get in a stranger's car" (Uber/Lyft) but it still feels like getting into an internet strangers airplane is the sort of thing that ought give one pause.
