2021-04-05 from the editor of ~insom ------------------------------------------------------------ I turned off my French server after nearly five years. It wasn't possible to upgrade its Ubuntu install any more (or at least, to make it boot a newer kernel). Scaleway had accepted a bunch of government money to launch some physical ARM based dedicated servers, but I don't think it was a profitable endeavour for them. Of course, now that things run from my basement, I need to worry about the uptime of my house network. I had some firmware upgrades to do at the weekend which caused some blips and dropped my PPPoE session and I have some upcoming maintenance for the building power which will probably involve some downtime. Such is life, I guess.
