   Current interests: ARM things, still NT or at least
   "alternative universes to POSIX".

   I ran ethernet into the basement from my office via the
   airducts today. They are old and gross but it wasn't too bad
   a job, mostly because it's a straight run. I am waiting on
   an RJ45 box to arrive before wiring everything in, but
   otherwise the job is pretty tidy.

   I bought thermal paste for the X131e because, while it's a
   good laptop bront, it gets hot very quickly when you ask it
   to do anything even remotely computationally expensive, and
   even just idles at 49C (with auto fans) or 64C (with tinyfan
   keeping it quiet).

   I haven't had the pleasure of applying thermal paste despite
   over 20 years of working in computing, so that'll be fun. I
   hear people usually fuck it up on the first try because you
   actually need _very little_

   Finally, I am using a potato phone while my wife borrows
   mine: a 2014 Moto G4. It's frustratingly slow, but it's
   inspired me to try Lineage on my Pixel 2 when I get it back
   -- I enjoy having a phone that can do so little. I've
   sideloaded Google authenticator and Fastmail and that's
   basically it. Websites for the rest, or built in Android
   apps.
