2022-09-02 from the editor of ~insom ------------------------------------------------------------ Skipped all of August on here, somehow. _Right_ now, I am sitting on my front porch watching a totally over the top thunderstorm with heavy rain sweep in out of nowhere. I recall thunderstorms being smaller and rarer when I grew up (because I grew up in a different country, not because of climate change, although that could be playing a part, too). Given that I'm on a hill and I have cover, this is just exciting for me. It's raining so hard I only have like 20m of visibility, and there's a halo all around the lone street light that's visible on my street. Lightning is coming about every minute or so. I, once again, have been tempted to buy an amber screen glass terminal. It's probably something that I will just have to do some day, to get it out of my system, but for now a dose of `apt install cool-retro-term` is treating the symptoms. For me, I don't want a comically over the top retro experience, with bezel and noise etc. so I've basically got an amber full-screen emulation with a pixel font and some persistence of vision and a tiny amount of bloom. As with most photography / Lightroom presets, the defaults go way too hard. It's just an extra-pleasant way to catch up on Gemini, too.
