Descend into darkness! 2023-10-25 I've finally found a bitmap font I can get by with. I've been with `fixed' for way too long now, which warranted a journey to something new. And jns poisoned me with the necessity for 0O differentiation and this one let's you build your own variation: URL: https://people.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~uwe/misc/uw-ttyp0/ It's not quite CREAM, but it's cursive-esque enough to send pleasant shivers down my pants everytime I print 'f'. This is in my Xresources: *font : -uw-ttyp0-*-i-*-*-18-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1 Orange on black. .. At this point my workflow is just 3 windows. tmux, xterm w/ links, xconsole. I don't even run graphical links anymore. I rewrote my url parser for the terminal links with dmenu. s/fandom/antifandom, s/twitter/nitter, etc, etc. Not that I visit those places a lot, but it's been a project of mine for the past few months. A links2 companion `plugin'. Watch yo*tube through a terminal browser, read webcomics, borrow books. That sort of stuff. I should finish the links2bible soon, maybe some of the three people who use it will find the information in it useful. It's not about elitism, paranoia or some ethical highgroundery - it's just a response to the bodily reflex of an acid reflux, when the `RICH' internet presents itself. And there's nothing like a text browser to remind you of the decaying purpose of the web - to serve text - as more and more urls return: "sorry, bud, we need to track ya, can't do it with whatever the fuck you're using to visit our site :(" .. I've been using deloused firefox for the past two weeks to work on a website a few `normal' people might visit, and to get a taste of what the standard appears to be - to understand what the browser powerusers masturbate over. I don't really get it and at this point, I'm not sure that I want to. I'm quitting gui. Not because I have some undiagnosed brain disease (though chances are I do), but because everything feels as if it was made for stimulation. Sexy buttons, cute animations, curvy shadows, and shitty functionality. Maybe I'm wrong, but the more `aesthetic' the software, the shittier it is. And don't get me started on the corpo-soft - the world where aesthetics turn into profitability. Lick my cheek with next-gen graphical design, and I just might choke on vomit, as I keep scrolling for 17 more hours. I'd scream in octal, were I to know how. I have no real takeaway from all this, except for: I just like bitmap fonts.
