       Life is Hard
       ############

I decided to try the Tarot Challenge. I got "Eight of Cups" <
       http://learntarot.com/c8.htm >. After thinking I'd do a one-off song
for the challenge, I realized it the "seeking deeper meening / growing
wearing / moving on" ideas mapped cleanly to my album concept and what
       I'd cover in the song about a comic-book / show / rebooted-show about a
human civilization that got more than it bargained for when it created
       some highly effective war machines.

My only complaint with it right now is that it feels a little short. It
feels complete in that it does tell a story, but I think there could be
some more verses going in to further detail.

The album concept (repeated from my bio): This FAWM, I want to write
songs for an art album I'm working on. Abstractly, it's an art album
about copyright... in the guise of hymn filk. The premise is a lonely
space traveler thinks about what might be in store for the colony ship
when they get there, but due to copyright restrictions only music made
before 1926 is available on-board. So, he combines the two.

       Lyrics
       ======

(What if some of our old war machines still lurk out here?)

       Feeling drained by life's demands
       Dragging myself through the day
       Then the war machines arrive
       blowing evrything away.
Life is hard without my dog.
Wish I could crawl in a log.

Strained and sore and feeling sick
wishing that I'd packed my lunch
       I thought I could grab a bite
but now I'm crammed with this bunch.
My meals were made by my wife
Guess now she was lost in strife.

       Seeking meaning deep within
       Finding myself peace quite fast
       What's important is my son
Was he with his mother last?
Did they make it to the ship
or were they out eating dip?

My son is dead. He's no more,
But I have now a daughter
her family gone that we're sure
       Lost, alone just a squatter
Life is hard without a home
What, one day, will end our roam?
