Where's the library? Sunday, April 15, 2018 First day as a gopher (gopherist?). I've just camped and admittedly I've only devoted a couple hours to these matters but... I'm a bit surprised that, being gopher such an aged technology, actual documentation on its basic wiring is so scarce; or at least not readily available. There's a couple basic guide, good as a starting point I guess, but no actual spec that I can see. Something that bothers me is that in those I cannot actually tell what is standard and what is a given server's extension. So, what am I asking about? Well, I mean things like: - What is the text encoding supposed to be? Is there any convention in absence of an specification? - Are lines supposed to be truncated with carriage returns? which stile? UNIX? DOS? MAC? At any rate, at which damned column? Sure, there must be an RFC specifying the network protocol in great detail. I don't expect it to contain answers to any of those simple questions. Will read anyways, you never know. Of course I might be looking at the wrong places. Or maybe I'm just missing on the 'general consensus' among the community. _______ UPDATE: Solderpunk already read a WIP state of this post and answered my questions. Boy, I'm gona enjoy my stay here!
