Greetings, sundogs. tfurrows introduced me to circumlunar.space just over a week ago, and I have been trying to break through my schedule to get started ever since. After many years on SDF, some research I've been doing on the history of public access Unix systems has gotten me interested in learning about more shell communities. Some of the language describing the Zaibatsu in particular is exactly what has been driving my research -- e.g. "offering text-based asylum to those fleeing the commercialisation, bloat and surveillence of the wider net." Regular phl/blogging about my day to day activities has never been a skill of mine, but the Zaibatsu seems like an ideal place to talk through some philosophical meanderings. I am particularly interested in understanding how corporate control of the internet and of social and communications media impacts culture and society. I am also interested in the role that non-commercial, digital social platforms can offer as an alternative. To me, these things are not just interesting, but important. I spend some effort supporting and making connections between other people who also find them important. I am looking forward to getting to know the sundogs on circumlunar.space.
