Evening. I probably should be sleeping, so I'm going to try and make this entry brief. Besides, this is really just a prep entry anyways. As you may already know, September is ROOPHLOCH [1] month, where we attempt to phlog outside and off grid. Last year didn't happen, so I felt determined to at least show up for this one. Anyways, I've had plans to make something like this happen, but I needed to lay that groundwork. And even with a nice holiday weekend, I still managed to distract myself until the last minute. At least I did accomplish some stuff, instead of leaving a wake of unfinished stuff per usual. This year, I'm planning on using APRS to phlog using a basic tailphlogger whipped up in python. Many thanks to M0YNG for the framework with the APRS to Mastodon script, which I used to start off. It's by no means complete, and I want to fix some stuff like sending back ACKs to prevent retransmits, etc instead of the dupe check, but the handy method I had hoped existed didn't, so I think some raw text processing will be needed to make it happen. Or maybe I could roll it into aprslib and submit it upstream. Hmm. A link to the listings [2] will be below, and if anyone wants to give it a whirl, please send me a message/irc/whatever on the zaibatsu if you're there or contact me on ~team and I'll enter your callsign into the username map and give you the details. Anyways, it's late. Night.
