# A First Post (Note to Self: A first post is bound to sound a little awkward.) I have never been an avid blogger, but that's about to change now. I really do see the benefits. Telling people about your plans just helps you commit better and consolidate plans, and you might earn a few followers in the process. It was about 2 years ago that I discovered this corner of internet. It is only now that I have tangible plans of engaging in the community. Though, I have to say, I have a terrible rep of ignoring plans. ## On Computers I have always loved computers. It is not an understatement to say I always knew what I wanted to do. Computers are not just a thing sitting in the background for me. Now that I have a lot of freetime, I really want to start all over again. Forget everything I knew but remember my experiences. My current computer knowledge is hacked together through bits and pieces around the web. Now that I have 'tangible' plans, I need 'solid' plans. (Pardon my use of self-invented jargon. These are actually real data types in my custom emacs planning code) It didn't take me long to realize coming up with a 'solid' plan is a lot harder than an 'unclear' one. Unclear plans are a plague. Set goals, people. In this particular case, things are a little more complicated; to what extent do I want to learn intericacies of my machine, speaking very generally? I'm now doing the CSAIL Missing Course. It is basically an 11-hour primer on the tools of the trade. After that, I'll try to learn what really piqued my interest on a deeper level. ## On Figuring Out Life For the past 2 years I have been trying to figure out two of the biggest conundrums of my life: Drawing and Problem-Solving. Drawing has become the joy of my life. I'm happy to tell you all I think I have finally figured out drawing. Now all I have to do is around 5 years of consistent practice. I see that 5 years, I feel those 5 years; plans are now 'tangible'; all I have to do is make the best of my time. (I don't have ambitious drawing goals; five is just enough) On drawing, if I have to give you some advice, it is to pick up both Keys to Drawing *and* Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Both of these books are eye-openers. Also search YouTube for "iterative drawing" (a video by Sycra). These really helped me understand the underlying mechanism of drawing and training your brain. Unfortunately, not everything is good and well in the problem-solving area. I'm still working on it, I have better understanding now, but it all hasn't clicked yet. I'll keep you guys posted. ## On Fun You guys will keep a secret of mine, right? I haven't watched Serial Experimets Lain. Does that affect my geek status? (lol). I'll try to watch a few episodes over the next few days. Black Lagoon, Great Teacher Onizuka, and the Evangelion reboot are coming up next. Also, I'll try to compile a list of games I want to play. Dark Souls is on the top (oops yet another thing I have missed out on) but I'm waiting for a discount. Oxygen Not Included is a friend-favorite. I might compile a better list of these later but basically, gonna get any classic game over the summer sale. ## Coming Up Later Harley-Hahn Teaches The Internet, Zettelkasten, Cleaning Up Defiled My Sanity, It Is About Time I Had To Learn Java, Toki Pona, Math, Exercise (bad feet, no plans for now)
