Don't believe them, don't fear them, don't ask anything of them. (Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn) My last job ended with that employer moving the plant to a different state and I was still there for most of the downsizing and wind-down of operations of the old plant (and the chaos of getting the new plant up and running). The hourly workforce, most of them good hard-working people who had been there a long time, were let go - very few were offered to relocate to the new plant. It was all handled /very/ poorly. Today and tomorrow my current employer is having a 'broker' company begin auctioning off all of our major equipment, including items that we will still be using (they will be delivered over to the purchasers once we're finished using them). As unpleasant as that is, the employees of the 'broker' company are not being at all gracious about things. Twice today I had to hold back from using my old vocabulary from my foundry days. As depressing as that is for me I've only been there for two and a half years - there are people still working there that have been there for four decades or more, including some of my own direct reports. I think they're handling it pretty well, considering. Tomorrow is going to be an even harder day. Today was the preview for people to look at what's available, tomorrow the on-site auction happens and the online auction begins. It is a good thing that I never started drinking. NO CARRIER
