aussies.space gopher server

Does anybody happen to know what has happened / is happening to the
gopher server of the aussies.space tilde server?  The website is up but
I have not been able to connect to gopher for quite a long time now.
The website mentions "the original aussies.space shell server, which has
been discontinued", but since I never visited the website before now I
don't know if that is talking about something that happened recently or
a long time ago...
