Muesli with yoghurt ------------------ Defanor has recently discovered the joy of muesli with yoghurt[1]. This was my breakfast of choice for many years, including the entire time that I lived in New Zealand. Toward the end of that period, I was making my own yoghurt (from milk using a crockpot or slow-cooker) and my own muesli. I made the yoghurt because I like mine really thick, and also because it actually saved me money (despite the fact that dairy farming and export is one of the cornerstones of NZ's entire national economy, dairy products in the supermarket are expensive), as well as the simple fact that I like doing stuff myself. I made my own muesli because I wanted a heavier emphasis on seeds, nuts and berries, and because I lived closeby to a place that sold that kind of thing in bulk. Upon moving to Finland, I "downgraded" to just yoghurt by itself, because I couldn't immediately find a good place to buy the components in bulk and the stores nearest to the student flats we stayed in when we first arrived had a poor range of pre-packaged stuff. Without ever actually intending for it to happen, I just kind of slipped into eating unadorned yoghurt as my default. It was only the other weekend when I ate breakfast out at a cafe that I had really good museli and yoghurt for the first time in a very long time, and it made me miss it. Maybe I should take another look into sourcing the stuff to make my own now that I know my way around better... [1] gopher://uberspace.net:70/0/~defanor/phlog/muesli-with-yogurt.rst
