Communications Secretaries 07/28/23 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Suppose you had enough money to be ridiculous. Here's something great you could do: Hire a few full-time Communications Secretaries, to live and travel with you. They could work in shifts, so you'd have 24/hr coverage, and they wouldn't get worn out. Build quarters for them, so they could be comfortable and have privacy yet be close at hand; and, so their families could be near them, if they have families and want them nearby during work shifts. And pay them fantastically well, more than they could make at any sensical job. These secretaries would handle the conversion of your communications, so that you could only operate with your favorite mode(s). For example, if you absolutely love written letters, these secretaries would convert every email, phone call, SMS, Facebook post, tweet, etc., into a handwritten letter for you. They'd handle screening out junk of course. Each morning, you'd get a stack of letters, to read through at your leisure through the course of the morning. If you were in the mood to write back, you could--or, you could have your secretaries do the writing while you dictate. Perhaps you'd hand write some of the important responses, and others you'd pass along to your secretaries to hand write for you. If ever you got tired of your favorite mode of communication, you could change it. Maybe handwritten letters weren't doing it for you this week, and you wanted to get technical with email. Your secretaries would still convert and filter for you, turning every form into your preferred form. Perhaps you really want emails read through a terminal connected to an old mainframe system in your computer collection; not a problem, they'll convert it all, both directions, so you can still connect with the world. So take hope, gopher dwellers--if ever you find yourself ridiculously rich, there will always be fun, creative ways to spend your money. Just make sure you write about them on gopher (or have your secretaries do that part).
