Where'd September Go? 10/26/23 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I missed last month, and this month is almost over as well. Too busy I guess. Or something like that. People ask me what I've been up to, and I'm not entirely sure what to tell them. It happened just last night with a friend. I guess I need to be more mindful of keeping some sort of mental list handy, for when the question comes up. Of course, I'm not going to give you a list right here, because I still don't have one. At present I only have a few minutes to write anyway. One of the phlogs I enjoy reading is the Free Thinker[1]. He most recently said, "Like everyone I enjoy human stories, real or imaginary, and have some fascination with the intricacies of how other people think." Just one of the reasons why I like reading his stuff. I don't quite get the nudist thing, but perhaps he'll explain it some day... perhaps he already has and I need to look for the article. I have to assume he reads here, at least from time to time, as he mentioned some books that I had read. I confess, I consumed those books very rapidly, wasting away large segments of a couple work days on them. This is not my usual mode, but as it had been some time since I read any novels, it's just how I felt to approach them. Apparently I'm still not satiated, because I recently consumed George MacDonald's "Annals of a Quiet Neighborhood" in just over a day, as well as the much shorter "Agnes Grey", which really only takes a couple hours to go through at most, and which I've read many times. With the Annals of a Quiet Neighborhood book, I was expecting fantasy, not having bothered to read what the book was about before picking it up. But, it was one of his religious books. I love that man more and more, the more I read his stuff. If you're Christian, I'd recommend it--or, if you find people interesting, Christian or otherwise. The author is fantastic, a point which history and the genre he helped create will testify to. A friend of mine recently noted that he is going to start a gopher server. Sometime to look forward to, hopefully in the next few months or so (I believe that's what he said). Also, he noted that the Red Consensus is supposed to offer anonymous posting, yet mentions right in the home page that it has logging turned on. Well, yes. The logging is on because I'm too lazy to turn it off. But, I think I'll make an effort. Then, we'll see if anyone is more interested in using it or not :) The clunky interface probably doesn't help things either. Thank you, gopher space, for all you provide.
