Fishing pole broke... 06/14/21 ------------------------------------------------------------ One of my favorite fishing poles broke the other day. Just plum snapped in half on a cast. I'm thankful that I have the luxury of fishing enough to break a pole! The pole was a favorite for the simple fact that it was telescopic. It wasn't anything fancy, just a Shakespeare pole, cost about $20 if memory serves. It collapsed small enough to fit in a bag that I keep in the car (a pretty little woven bag from Pakistan I believe, I also keep a notepad, a small tackle box, a bottle of water, and a few other odds and ends in there.) What I've come to appreciate with fishing is, planning a big trip just isn't for me. If a lake presents itself, or if I feel like going out to one, that's wonderful. I have a few other poles and more tackle when I want to plan ahead, but the spur of the moment trips are always more fun. Carrying less gear is always more fun. I like to fish moving around, not sitting on one place, so having gear I can easily carry suits me. So, I'll miss the pole. It'll get replaced eventually, but I'll miss it for now, and that suits me too.
