A prayer answered 11/10/21 ------------------------------------------------------------ Here's an interesting thing. I was wanting to purchase something, never mind what, and didn't really feel like it was in the budget. This is something I've wanted for a very long time, and something with some non-trivial costs associated with it. It's never really been in the budget, to be honest. I've wanted it for at least ten years, maybe more. Recently, I figured I'd ask God for help. Why not, right? I'm a praying sort of person in general; if I really want this, why not put it in God's hands, and see what He does with it? So, I did that. I wrote it down, and basically told God this: "Here's this thing I've wanted for a long time. It's not a bad thing, but it's also not some bare necessity. That said, I know you're a God of abundance, and you don't only want us to have the bare minimum that we need to survive. You want us to be happy, to have joy, and yes, even to explore many good things here on Earth. So, here it is. It's costs a lot. I can't really justify robbing the family budget for it. If you want to bless me with this, I'm sure you could find a way. I'm happy without it, so whatever you decide is fine." I didn't have any strong expectations. Like I said, this has been on the "nice to have" list for some years. But, I figured, if the All Powerful wanted to oblige, I'd be grateful. The writing-it-down part was important for me. I wrote it somewhere I would see it often, and when I saw it, I said a little prayer in my heart. And, so you know, I do try not to be self-centered; I wrote it alongside a large list of people that I pray for, friends and family who have needs. I just threw it up there with everything else, and thought about it frequently. I don't know how long this was on my list, but it didn't seem like long. Maybe a few weeks, maybe a month or two. It was on there a very little time, when a connection came out of the wood works and told me that his company had some work that needed to be done, and that they'd be happy to pay me whatever I normally charge to get it done. I wrote up a proposal, and it was accepted with a portion paid up front. The work fit into my schedule, and the money wasn't earmarked for anything else. And, it was enough to get that bucket list item. Boom. Prayer answered. Just like that. I have to say, I'm thankful. And, I tell God that. He knows all anyway, but I tell Him just because. I have no idea why it worked out this way, this time. But, it did. Sometimes prayer is like that. Not all the time, but sometimes.
