The Boomerang Man 07/13/22 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When my grandpa passed away, he left a smattering of miscellany to his grandkids (his kids didn't want anything to do with his junk.) Among that were two boomerangs, which fell to me. My son and I have been out throwing them around at the park. Well, mainly one of them, as the other doesn't hardly throw. In one outing, the good one landed on the roof of a park shelter. I figured it was gone, and that we'd replace it with something else. Of course, my son didn't agree, and he kept bringing it up. Finally, we went back the other day with a ladder, and retrieved it. That same day, it broke on a particularly hard hit to the ground. Upon examination, I saw that the words: THE BOOMERANG MAN MONROE, LA *unreadable line* *unreadable line* QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA where stamped on the back, so I took to the internet to see about a replacement. I ended up here: https://www.theboomerangman.com/product/stones-throw-hawes-m17/ This was, by the appearance, the M17 by Lorin Hawes. It was the spitting image. I contacted the Boomerang Man by email. He responded very quickly, and helped me positively identify the boomerang as a Hawes sold 1977-1978. He told me how to repair it (though, it is unsure if it will ever fly again--he suggested it was collectible and worth hanging on a wall.) I also learned that that M17 is no longer made, but he suggested some alternatives. Super nice guy. We ordered a few, and I also made a friend. We're keeping in touch through a project my son has to recreate his own copy of the M17. So if you're in the market for a boomerang, reach out to Rich, richardharrison70@comcast.net, and tell him what you want. He'll hook you up.
