            VF-1, (circumlunar), 10/12/2018

I really enjoy the VF-1 gopher client, and I've written a 
couple little tips for those that use it[1]. Today, it 
struck me that I could probably use ANSI color sequences 
right in my bookmarks file to make some links stand out 
more than others. I tried it, and....

Ok, it wasn't that big of a deal... but, it was nice. I know 
that not everyone likes color in their text. There is 
probably some great argument against it, I don't know. I 
really appreciate the quick visual distinction color can 
lend when looking through pages of text. For gopher, there 
are certain bookmarks that I use frequently. I already have 
my bookmarks sorted into categories and broken up visually 
into sections with headers... adding the color gives me 
another level of quick and easy sorting.

Now I need to go read RFC 1436 again to see if it talks 
about the transmission of special characters contained in 
text files... perhaps gopher text files could appropriately 
(and annoyingly) have ANSI escape sequences in them as well?

UPDATE: I couldn't help myself[2]. The good news is, it 
works in VF-1; in case you had some doubt about it being the
best gopher client. The bad news is, it doesn't work in lynx
nor in UMN gopher... so it's probably not a good idea to try
out on most gopher client. Ah well.
