It's been quite a few years since I've been on a train. And in the US, I've not used a train that I can recall. I was once almost hit by an Amtrak train in the woods of Washington State, but that is another story. Monday I'll take a train from Jefferson City, MO, to Winslow, AZ (the "standin' on the corner" city of Eagles fame.) It will be about a 27hr train ride (counting one connection.) That is much longer than any European line that I've been on. This is my phlog about beauty, among other things. I'm hopefully that the train ride will include some beauty, during the daytime portions of the trip. I'm pleased to be visiting Arizona again, which I already unexpectedly miss. It'll be the dry part of AZ, as I won't be following the line through to Flagstaff, but it's beautiful anyway. I'm hopeful that the train experience itself will have beauty. I'll have time, so I'll write a phlog post or two about it. If they have wifi, I'll upload the post from the train. This also reminds me, user jirka wrote about trains in Central Europe recently[1]. He wrote about his experience with his Pocket GPD on the trains. I still want to get one of those at some point, if I can justify the expense. It sounded like the longest line he was on was a 6hr trip. I'm positive that it was quite scenic and beautiful. [1] gopher://sdf.org/1/users/jirka/Phlog/2018_05_04.txt
