Drove about 3hrs last night, with our belongings for the next few months in our trunk and in a roof bag on top of our car. The roof bag is heavy enough to dent the roof in a bit, but it popped back out afterward, without any complaint. I like the roof bag. It doubles our cargo space. The car has a V8 (sorry Earth,) so there aren't any power issues even when the car is fully loaded (or overloaded.) In addition to adding more space, the roof bag adds a certain charm to driving down the interstate 40 at 80mph; a wide variety of new sounds. In some winds (or maybe it's the mood of the roof bag) the thing sounds like a hail storm. I might have loaded it wrong, so a part of the bag flaps against the roof of the car. I tied the straps up well, so it's not those, but there is a flap of the bag that could do it. Maybe it's the roof popping in an out. It sounds neat, when it's in that hail storm mood. In other situations or moods, it sounds like occasional flatulence. I don't mind this because there is no accompanying smell. In still other moments, the roof bag sounds like someone blowing a raspberry[1]. That's fun, but it's even more fun that there's a gopherpedia entry for the term. My only fleeting fear is that the bag will fly off the vehicle, strewing our clothing across the road in front of a semi truck. But it's only fleeting, from time-to-time, so it's not so bad. And, the thing has never flown off before, so it must never fly off in the future. [1] gopher://gopherpedia.com:70/0/Blowing a raspberry
