I haven't updated my phlog in a while, but I have been reading yours if you're on any of the major aggregators. Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law SparkIPX. I hope she's improving. For the Palm fanatics out there, someone posted a story on the Hacker News about a web rendering proxy server that you might be interested in: https://github.com/tenox7/wrp Downloads are here: https://github.com/tenox7/wrp/releases/ Otherwise, it's been an eventful couple of weeks. The first inspection on the new bathroom project went well. Now I'm almost finished wiring the room. In the meantime, the plumber came and ran a new main supply line to the house, because ours was galvanized and the cost of insuring the galvanized line was ridiculous. So we replaced it. It was a day of digging and then backfilling. Since it's Canada, the line has to be buried almost five feet down to keep it below the frost line. I'm still sore. The plumber pressed his kids into service and none of them got up until late the next morning, apparently. Afterward we cut the old galvanized line to see inside (they're supposed to rust from the inside out, deteriorating from within, so that they break when you least expect it). It was rusting a little on the inside, but the walls of the pipe were as thick as the day it was made. Hmmph. I've paid insurance companies a lot of money for nothing over the past 12 years (only a couple of companies were willing to insure me with the old pipe in the house and they were charging at least $300 extra). You can bet I'm going to shop around for the best deal in the fall. On a positive note, the new supply line is a lot larger than the old one and we have a much better water pressure now. My wife loves it. I feel like I phlog about the most mundane things. At least it's not all tech. Perhaps cat will be happy. One last thing. Isn't it funny how gopher activity seems to go in waves? There are weeks when it seems like almost everyone is posting multiple times (sometimes more than once a day) and then weeks when it gets very quiet. I'm intrigued by that because I have no idea why it happens. Cheers, phloggers. Take care.
