It is not your fault, but you are the one who is called, and therefore the caller gets mad at you. And you have to tell them that you are trying to help. If they are dissatisfied, they should call the manager making the rules directly, without you in the middle. Let a robot be in the middle. Quit the job. If someone is not satisfied, let them send their threatening letters to the company and not to you.
