However, an associate membership is only $35. Check the ACE website for details. #Post#: 2005-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: Mrceagle Date: February 5, 2020, 8:26 am ---------------------------------------------------------
I think the members only thing comes into play when the venue is just too small. We went to Canobie a few years ago and the room is really tight, even with just members. Getting the parks to sponsor this event has seemed to get more difficult over the years so I wouldn't say anyone is "pulling" anything. It is just what is needed to ensure the dues paying members that want to attend can fit. Also, I guess my opinion is if anyone really wants to attend a club event, join the club. ACE has memberships for couples, families etc too that can mitigate the cost.
The members-only play has been in effect a few years ago. even during the last Lake Compounce sponsored event which can handle the large groups. Last year it was helping at an elks hall and 1 guest was allowed. Which is still limited from previous years. Conversation with Jerry LC is willing to host but the event would have to be later in the year since the heat/water needs to be turned on in the ballroom. But it is seen local reps dislike the idea or a late March event. My second statement still stands. I haven't heard of any other region that does this. I do agree that canobie lacks space. #Post#: 2006-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: depotrat Date: February 5, 2020, 2:02 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Comparing Nor'eaaster to other region off season events like Eastcoaster and No Coaster Con is apples to oranges. Nor'easter is a suggested donation of $5 per head. Both of these other events require admission of $50 per head and $65 per guest. Hell, these are more than the cost of a membership!! Even the South Central's Winter Fest event is $20 and $40. Again I say, nobody is "pulling" anything and if you really want to go just pay the dues that keep the club going and allows the NE region to get the local park to donate the use of the space and food for MEMBERS!! #Post#: 2007-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: Mrceagle Date: February 5, 2020, 6:15 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Jerry did a walkthrough tour for the old LC forums and its guests. with no expectation so of group connection. In fact, it was these tours that started the park hosted nor easter trend. Thanks for the info on the other events. They are far more expensive. but also form the write-ups are far more organized and larger events. They also seem to be longer events. But I thought this was the most interesting bit of info form their listing. Please note that like all national and regional ACE events, this event is all-inclusive and open to all ACE members and their guests. Likewise, this event page is public and open to all. If you have ACE Facebook friends who haven't yet received an invite to this event, please use the Invite/Share feature to help us spread the word! #Post#: 2008-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: CodyatTGE Date: February 5, 2020, 9:17 pm --------------------------------------------------------- So I can get in without being an ACE member right? #Post#: 2009-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: Mrceagle Date: February 5, 2020, 11:14 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Not to this event. You have to be registered as an ACE member before the event. The bolded statement was from other events that deportat talked about. The event is informative. can be hit or miss as far as overall quality but none the less its a good way to get more updates from the parks that show up. TGE has attended the last few years but that's a new thing It's not a guarantee and in fact, there is no guarantee any park will be there outside of the host park. SFNE will normally be in attendance and has sent a video on years they couldn't attend. #Post#: 2010-------------------------------------------------- Re: ACE New England's The Great Nor'Easter 2020 By: RegRepNE Date: February 6, 2020, 12:57 am --------------------------------------------------------- No one is "pulling" anything. New England Regional ACE Events are worked out with the parks who host ACE. Pricing, as well as attendance qualifications, are negotiated with the individual parks. For events where guests are permitted, the number is negotiated, with the park having the final say. When guests are allowed, they pay a higher registration fee (to encourage them to join so they don't have to pay a higher price). The host parks for our Nor'Easter, off-season event, have generously provided the space and the lunch at no cost for many years (yes, we ask for a $5 donation and some agree and some decline), so if the park wishes to restrict the number of guests for whatever reason, that is their prerogative. Regarding the comment that the last Nor'easter event at Lake Compounce (2018) was members only, even though LC can handle large groups. The way the event was planned, we were going to use their training room, which is about the same size as the one at Canobie. We were quite surprised to arrive and find the ball room was set up for us instead. The Nor'easter event last year (2019) was the first one I organized that was not hosted by an amusement park. Being totally responsible for "everything" last year, I personally felt 1 guest per ACE member was reasonable. The event went well and if future events are in non-park, rented spaces, the number of guests will be higher. Those are the facts. This is a forum, where participants may freely express their opinions. And they certainly do! My opinion - in response to anyone who is disappointed that The Great Nor'Easter 2020 regional ACE event is limited to ACE members only - There is a way to prevent your disappointment - Join ACE. #Post#: 2011-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: Mrceagle Date: February 6, 2020, 10:29 am --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for joining and joining the conversation. Sorry to put you in a position that your first post is something so political and not to promote a park or Regional event. As for being responsible for everything. Why didn't you ask for help? I nor anyone in my family saw any emails requesting volunteers or if anyone nearby had XYZ that might help with the event. I've contacted parks in the past. I've shared out the event and help promote it (when guests were allowed). Even the first mention of the even hear and the reminder that it's for ACE members only was posted by me. @sluggo77 was then nice enough to share the event listing from Facebook. There seems to be many of us, members and none members, that are open to promoting and helping in any way needed. Be well and I hope to see you posting more often. #Post#: 2012-------------------------------------------------- Re: General Park Discussion By: RegRepNE Date: February 6, 2020, 11:17 am ---------------------------------------------------------
As for being responsible for everything. Why didn't you ask for help?
"Responsible for everything".... in that if anything went awry, it fell on my shoulders. I had plenty of assistance and assistants helping me for the event, and sincerely appreciate the multiple offers I received after the event for all kinds of help in doing something off-site [i.e. not at a park] again in the future. ***************************************************** (DIR) Previous Page (DIR) Next Page
