Hi NN:

Dunno, but here goes my opinion:

dedicated ( useful if you dare to play with iptables ).

documents ( no distraction), and the read-only ability ( if wanted ).

presenting and sharing news, receipts, research papers, et al ).

like that but at a minimum.

At least but not last: You have no obligation to user the Gopher, if it
does not fit your purposes ;)

       have a nice day.

Dunno, but here goes my opinion:

Gopher, as a TCP/IP application layer protocol , it has its own port de=
dicated ( useful if you dare to play with iptables ).

To me, is more organized, in the aspect to classify and present your do=
cuments ( no distraction), and the read-only ability ( if wanted ).

Serving as a publishing tool, gopher is quite useful (think of pr=
esenting and sharing news, receipts, research papers, et al ).

Think also of multimedia content or the old CD-ROM support: work =
like that but at a minimum.

The way it works from server to server (proxies ), is also unique.
